Yonder Launches Rent and Mortgage Rewards Feature

Yonder has introduced a new feature allowing UK members to earn rewards points on rent and mortgage payments through its FCA-regulated debit and credit card. The Rent & Mortgage Rewards option is positioned as the first of its kind in the UK market for earning points on these major household expenses.

How the Feature Works

Members do not need to open a new bank account or involve their landlord, letting agent, or lender in additional steps. Users simply inform Yonder of their rent or mortgage payment amount, due date, and recipient. Yonder then processes the payment from the member’s linked account and automatically awards points based on the transaction. There are no handling or administration fees for using this service.

Renters paying via standing order can begin earning points immediately. For mortgage holders, Yonder states that approximately 70% of UK mortgage providers support the feature at launch, including Halifax, Nationwide, Barclays, TSB, and Virgin Money. The company expects broader industry adoption by the end of 2026.

Earning Potential and Rates

Points earned depend on the member’s Yonder tier and are subject to an introductory rate available until 31 December 2026.

Free tier members receive a flat 1,000 points per month on rent or mortgage payments during the introductory period, equivalent to up to £5 in rewards value. After the launch period ends, the standard rate for free members reduces to 200 points per month.

Premium members earn points at a rate of 5x per £1 spent on rent or mortgage payments during the introductory period, capped at 10,000 points monthly (worth up to £50). Following the introductory period, the standard Premium rate becomes 1x point per £1 spent, capped at 2,000 points monthly. All rates are subject to applicable terms and conditions.

Yonder clarifies that while the rewards won’t cover the full payment amount, they provide tangible value on an expense that previously earned no rewards.

Enhanced Premium Membership Benefits

The rent and mortgage feature coincides with an update to Yonder’s Premium membership. Premium members now receive:

  • A £50 credit every six months for use toward Hertz car hire or hotel bookings
  • A £20 credit every six months for access to No.1 Lounges at UK airports

These credits are applied biannually and require a minimum spend to activate, subject to terms and conditions. They supplement existing Premium benefits.

Assessing the Value

Yonder reports that members have collectively redeemed over £9 million in rewards to date across a network exceeding 300 partners, including brands like Hertz, JustEat, Riverford, and Selfridges. The company suggests the feature is particularly relevant for individuals who actively seek cashback or points on regular spending, as it allows them to gain value from a necessary payment with minimal additional effort.

Access to the Premium tier requires a monthly membership fee of £17.99. The representative APR is 73.1% for the Premium credit card and 31.61% for the free credit card. Yonder emphasizes that the service is available only to UK residents aged 18 or over, and borrowing should be undertaken responsibly. Full terms and conditions apply.
